Mod post: Slight change to the bingo card!
The audiobook square has now been tweaked to include an ebook as another option should you not be able to read audiobooks, or have found that you do not like audiobooks. The new card posted below will replace the first card in the rules post. However, BOTH cards are still viable, so you do not have to change to the new card if you do not wish to do so.

That's a really good idea! I know I hated audiobooks until just a few years ago. but I've got a few stockpiled that I haven't listened to yet.

I was pretty much the same. I couldn't fathom listening to someone else read me a book. But then Tom Hiddleston, you know? It was announced the was going to read High-Rise, and I signed up for audible's free trial, and slowly over time I gained an appreciation for audiobooks. And while I still prefer print books, I am growing to love audiobooks a lot.

It was Stephen Fry for me, reading the Harry Potter books. I just hated listening to other people read out loud. I think it stemmed from school when the class would have a book and all have to read a few pages out loud and I'd get frsutrated with how slow or how unexpressive everyone was. So I'd read ahead and then it would be my turn and I'd get into trouble for not knowing what page we were on! But Stephen Fry changed all that. I enjoyed his reading of the Harry Potter series.

And I have a LOT of Benedict reading too. The problem there is I have a handful of favourites that I listen to over and over, so I don't really have to concentrate. They're just background noise. . I really must listen to some of the others but it means taking the time to actually listen, if that makes sense!

I'll have to look out for High Rise. I used up my freebie at Audible already.

We get the Jim Dale versions of the HP books over here, but he does a delightful job as well. I'm about 35% through Deathly Hallows right now. Trying not to rush it since it's the last one. :(

Do you have any in which Richard Armitage is the narrator? Because OMG...he is drool worthy as a narrator.

Yeah I love Jim too. I had heard that he does a good job with them!

I sadly don't have any Richard Armitage ones. I wish I did.

A few years ago one of the instant coffee brands over here ran an ad campaign where they had various well known actors reading books on their website. So you could make your coffee and sit and listen while you drank it. I can't remember all the actors involved, but I know Dominic West was one.

There is a list of 100 free audiobooks here if anyone is interested!

Edit - I'll add that link to the resources post I made!

Thanks for the link!

If you ever get a chance to listen to one of Richard's books, you should definitely go for it!

Thanks for the link!! Not a big audio book person. I would rather read it. I get too distracted when someone is reading too me but I am giving them a try to make use of the time I waste during my morning commute. Also there are so many good readers out there. Remember when we used to say "so and so could read us the telephone book and we'd be happy"... I guess they listened although thankfully they read more interesting things.

I never was much into them either. Preferred to read myself. I do like listening in the bath though.

That's good, I'm partially deaf and not keen on listening. I have several ebooks downloaded now from that free kindle.

Thanks. I'm actually halfway through a book! I do keep getting distracted by fanfic but I'm getting there. I will have my first square soon \o/

Me too. I love books but audio books are just no fun when you keep missing parts. Thanks for asking.

Thinking of taking part in this bingo as I love reading (although for the last couple of years I've only read fanfics so this bingo might help me to get aback to read non-fanfics!!)!

Really glad to see that you added an e-book option as a replacement for audiobooks as I am deaf so audiobooks won't be useful for me! :-D so, thank you! :)

I do hope you decide to join us, we'd love to have you. :)

You are very welcome. We definitely don't want anyone to feel left out or not be able to complete a square for any reason, so we're more than happy to make adjustments as needed.

Again, hope you decide to join in!

I'm fine with any format, most of what I'm reading is ebooks but I have a great audiobook waiting for that square, and at least one real book for the romance square (most of my favourite Caroline Anderson romanceS are too old for epub *sad face*)

Altho, I find myself liking the full cast audios more than just one person reading ;)

I have a full cast adaptation of Carmilla that is really wonderful. It has David Tennant in it!
