Bookshelves and libraries

As book lovers we also like filled bookshelves and cosy libraries!

So what's your dream bookshelves? How is your actual one? (feel free to share pictures if you want)
Do you go to the library? How is the one you go to?
Did you visit wonderful libraries? Or do you plan to?

First, I wanted to let you know that I created a "discussion posts" tag and added it to both this post and the previous one. :)

My dream bookshelves? I mainly just wish I had a big enough house to have a library in it. A room with ceiling to floor shelves and plenty of comfy places to get cozy and read.

My actual shelves aren't quite so grand. I have an open faced bookshelf (which is over full) and a cabinet that I keep books in (which is also over full). I also have boxes of books in my closet, too.

I do go to the library sometimes. I live in a somewhat rural area, so the library is smaller that ones in larger cities, so I sometimes have a difficult time finding the things I'd like to read. However, they have recently begun to update to get their catalog online and make things like inter-library loans easier.

If I had the time (and the money) I'd love to spend my time traveling to libraries around the world.

That^ is just part of comic books collection, so really, my dream bookshelf is infinite space. I have no more space left in my room and I've had to use a small closet to put some of them and my movies too.

I use the school's library, but one of my favorites is the Coronado public library (http://blog.sandiego.org/2013/03/wizard-of-oz-coronado/wizard-of-oz-glass-panels-2/), it has such a large collection of works, it's beautiful and the staff is always nice. Though I don't go as often as I'd like.

Lately I've been using Overdrive since it lets you borrow books from nearby libraries as long as you have a card.

I would love to visit libraries all over the world. The last time I was in Mexico City I visited the Biblioteca Vasconcelos (https://www.pinterest.com.mx/pin/322077810834023247/), it was an experience.

Here are pictures of my bookshelves. I've just refurbished my room and changed the shelves. I have more space with these one which is just great! Also, I reorganised my book! So on the first pictures these are mostly my non-fictions books and my mangas and books about Japan. The little shelf in the middle is for my cookbooks. The second pictures are my books in English and all my novels!

When I moved in, I had to choose between having a 2 persons bed and a smaller bookshelf... or a bigger one and a smaller bed. You can see what I choose! ;-)

My dream bookshelves are the ones in the Beauty and the Beast! A whole room filled with books and the little ladder!! *_*

I'm not often going to the library. I love buying books and when I'm not sure about one, I try to find the ebook version for free and if I like it, I buy it!

As for the beautiful libraries I hadn't had the chance yet to visit some. Though, there is a bookshop I really love in Maastricht (which is less than hour from where I live) : boekhandel dominicanen (https://www.google.be/search?q=boekhandel+dominicanen&client=firefox-b-ab&dcr=0&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj8ief_g9XYAhVN66QKHSotC70QsAQISg&biw=1600&bih=767). It's in an old church and it's just so beautiful!

My dream bookshelves would be about 4 times what my current one is. I can't find the photos of my bookshelves from before, but we moved house and had to downsize drastically. (At least we thought we would have to, so we got rid of probably 4/5 of our books. Then, when we found this house we regretted it as there would have been plenty of space for our bookshelves. Now I'm down to 3 shelves and hubby has a few more in his mancave. I think my kindle account now has more books than my physical shelves. And it makes me want to cry.

I haven't visited a library since my kids were younger. I never liked having to give the books back and would rather visit a bookshop and buy the ones I wanted. I don't drive so getting to the library from where I live isn't easy.

I love spending time in beautiful libraries, like in castles or stately homes for example.

My dream bookshelves...really I just want a house with bookcases in every room! For now I just have one in my closet:

I love going to the library! The one closest to me is the smallest branch in my county's library system, so most of the books I get I have to request to be sent there from the larger branches. But it has a pretty decent atmosphere. When I was in uni I went there a few times to work on papers, and I always sat at this one table under a skylight.

The coolest library I've visited is the New York Public Library. It was amazing, but I can't imagine going there to do actual work...I'd be too intimidated haha. I definitely plan to visit more awesome libraries in the future.

Here we go.... better late than never!

My bookcase... hard to get a good pic as the dining table is in the way. but here goes. After downsizing to move house I am down to the three bottom shelves of a 6 shelf glass cabinet. Except really only the bottom two shelves are mines. The other shelf is hubby's hardback Terry Pratchett books. His paperbacks and all his books are on his own shelves in his Mancave. (The top three shelves are ornaments, my old dog's ashes and other junk.) So really only two paltry shelves. Multiply that by 6 and that's what my collection USED to be. I had two of these cabinets full of books. It was heartbreaking to part with them. Most of my books are on my kindle these days. It has to be something really special or a bargain to make me buy a physical book any more.

Hubby's TP books and my tiny collection of books.

Bottom shelf is mostly health and wellbeing, cookery or reference books or comic books (all in their plastic baggies!)

And the reason they are in a glass cabinet, not on open shelves... I hate dusting.

Right now we only have one three shelf book shelf in the kitchen holding a few cookbooks. The rest of the boos are still in boxes even though we moved months ago. I still haven't decided where and what kind of shelves would look and function best in this 1913 house...

I go to the library two or three times a week. I can put a hold in on any book in the city's collection and have it sent to the neighborhood branch so it's great. Right now I have 10 books checked out because a bunch of holds came in at once.
