Mod post: DW back up/mirror community
[livejournal.com profile] keli and I both thought it might be prudent for this community to be backed up at Dreamwidth. We have created a mirror community which can be found here. I've started an import, and am waiting for the entries and comments to carry over. I've also imported the theme.

Some important things to note:

At this time, the mirror community is for back up purposes only.

For that reason, the mirror comm is currently invite only, as we intend to use it only for the sole purpose of backing up this community for the time being. Should that ever change, we will make an announcement, and open that community so that people may join freely.

That being said, after I post this, I will be issuing invites to the members of this community who I know have DW accounts. If you are a member of this community and do not receive an invite, please comment here with a link to your DW account, so we can invite you..

And with that being said, lol, please do not start any new threads in the mirror cumminity until the community is no longer invite only. Trying to keep up with the game on two different journaling sites is not something either [livejournal.com profile] keli and myself would prefer to do, heh. All new threads should be started here in the main community.

I think that's about it. If you have any questions, as always, please feel free to ask!

ANNOUNCEMENT: Out first quarter bingo winner is....
[livejournal.com profile] fionnabhar!!!! WOO-HOO!!

Congratulations!!!! You will be contatcted soon via private message in regards to your prize.

(And apologies for the delay in announcing the winner.)

Next drawing will happen in June!
30 March 2017 @ 10:13 pm
First drawing in less than 24 hours.
So far [livejournal.com profile] fionnabhar is the only one who has reported a bingo (she's actually blacked out her card!). There's still time to get in if you're close. The drawing (if needed) will take place at 7:00 pm in my time zone (US Central Time).

If you do bingo before then, please make sure to comment in the report your bingo post.

If there are no further bingos reported, a drawing will not be necessary as [livejournal.com profile] fionnabhar will be our default first winner.

Expect an announcement post either way shortly after the above mentioned time.

How the bingo drawings will work.

Drawings will be held on:

  • March 31st

  • June 30th

  • September 30th

  • December 28th

  • December 31st (black out drawing)

[livejournal.com profile] keli and I have also decided to have a drawing for anyone who manages to black out their entire card. That drawing will take place on December 31st and is listed above.

The rules in regards to the drawings are as follows:

  • All players that bingo at least once will be eligible for the drawings.

  • However, as we have only a handful of players, only your first three bingoes will count towards the drawings. So, in other words, each player will have a limit of three entries.

  • In the interest of fairness, once you win, you will be excluded from future drawings.

  • The exception to this is the black out drawing at the end of the year. Former winners will be eligible for this drawing.

  • In order for your bingo to count towards the drawings, you must report your bingo in the appropriate post.

  • You will be assigned a number for each of your 3 bingoes according to the order in which you report your bingoes. (For example: if Player A reports two bingoes before anyone else, and then Player B reports a bingo, Player A would be assigned #1 and #2, and Player B would be assigned #3 for the drawing.)

  • All drawings will be made using a random number generator.

  • A post will be made prior to the drawing which will list all eligible players as well as the number(s) they've been assigned in the drawing.

  • An announcement post will be made after the drawing announcing the winner. It will include a screenshot of the random number generator results.

Any questions please ask.

ANNOUNCEMENT: First bingo drawing to be held on March 31st.
So you have a couple more weeks to work on getting a bingo or two if you have not yet done so. :D

A rules post regarding how the drawings will work will be posted within a few days.

Buddy Read - Versailles by Elizabeth Massie
Start date: March 1st, 2017

Participants: [livejournal.com profile] keli,[livejournal.com profile] stellar_raven

Synopsis: You’ve seen the BBC 2 series, now read the novel based on the TV show. Don’t miss VERSAILLES the most sexy and shocking drama ever written about the king who built the world’s most famous palace. Packed with sex, scandal and intrigue, VERSAILLES will keep you up all night.

1667. The civil wars are over and King Louis XIV is on the French throne. To keep the nobles from their plots to overthrow his crown, the King gathers the court at Versailles. He plans to keep them there under his scrutiny by building the greatest palace the world has ever seen. The Palace of Versailles will be an opulent prison where Louis’ power is absolute.

The nobles have no choice but to play Louis’ game of manipulation and treachery. As tensions rise the court becomes a battlefield of tactical liaisons and salacious passions. Versailles is not the paradise it appears to be; instead, it is a labyrinth of treason and secrets, of political schemes and deadly conspiracies. It is a place of passion and death, love and vengeance.

The King will take what is rightfully his. [source]

Mod post: Slight change to the bingo card!
The audiobook square has now been tweaked to include an ebook as another option should you not be able to read audiobooks, or have found that you do not like audiobooks. The new card posted below will replace the first card in the rules post. However, BOTH cards are still viable, so you do not have to change to the new card if you do not wish to do so.

~Established Buddy Reads~
The following is a list of the Buddy Reads set up thus far. Our goal is to start a new buddy read each month. Please feel free to join in any of the established buddy reads, or suggest new ones in the comments! I believe most members here (and most definitely [livejournal.com profile] keli and myself) are up for more than one buddy read, so if you need a buddy, please comment and let us know!

Just before each buddy read is set to start, we will make a dedicated post for that book which will then be linked here.

**Note: While you can count only one book for the 'Buddy Read' square, you are more than welcome to take part in as many of the buddy reads as you wish. You can then use those books to fill other suitable squares if you already have the buddy read square filled.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask!

Bingo Squares Explained
Over 400 pages long - If using a kindle or other ebook reader it won't always tell you the page count, but goodreads has other editions if you need to verify the length of the book.
A favorite re-read - This is your chance to revisit one of your favorites!
A classic - A novel published in the past that stands the test of time.
From an ongoing/new book series - Have a series you've been enjoying reading? Dying to start a new series? This is the square for that.
Color in the title - The title of the book needs to reference a color. For example, I am reading the Orange Cat by Kelley Armstrong.

Set on or near a holiday - The plot itself doesn't have to revolve fully around the holiday. If a holiday is mentioned, you can use it here.
A mystery - Genre of fiction usually involving a mysterious death or a crime to be solved.
One word title - "The" counts as a word, so think again! ;-)
TV tie-in/turned into a tv show - This would be the place for any novels based on popular tv shows, or those books that have been turned into tv shows (your GoT books, your Shannara Chronicles, your Sookie Stackhouse books, etc.).
Horrible cover art - If you think the cover is ugly, then you've filled this square.

~LJ Book Bingo - Rules Post~
First of all, both [livejournal.com profile] keli and I would like to welcome you to not only the bingo game, but the community as well. However, our intent is that the bulk of the activity still take place in our personal journals.

Start date: January 1st, 2017
End date: December 31st, 2017
