Post February check-in...
Another month down...how are things going?

Anyone close to a bingo yet? Have you filled any squares? If so, which ones? What books are you looking forward to reading in the coming months? Need any recs to fill a particular square? Have any recs to others?

I finished two more (long) books for a total of six completed squares. I have another book started (Arrow: Generation of Vipers) and am about to start another (Imitation in Death). I'm planning on starting another audiobook, but an still trying to decide which one.

I'm always impressed when people can concentrate on audiobooks, I always find my mind drifting and have to rewind so it ends up being more trouble than its worth!

Nothing for me... February has been hectic at work (my colleague has left us yesterday so we had to plan and reorganize a lot of things). I hope to have more time in March but that's really not certain!

I tend to have a reading lull in February a lot of the time. I don't know why that is, though.

I hope things settle down at work some for you!

Nowhere near a bingo just yet. i'm dotted all over the place. My current book won't get me any nearer. But March is only just beginning.

As for recs... I loved Beth Underdown's the Witchfinder's Sister. If you like an easy reading cute cosy mystery try something by Frances Evesham. Murder At The Bridge, Murder at the Lighthouse... (I'm hoping for murder on the dancefloor myself... LOL) They're nice easygoing mysteries. Nothing too taxing but pleasing to read.

If someone wants to recommend me something for the 'published this year' square, I'm all ears!

I'm the same. Pretty much dotted all over.

Thanks so much for the recs!

I have the Arrow: Fatal Legacies book slotted for that square. Either it or the new Flash book which hasn't yet been released.

As far as published this year I was going to use the second book in the Martha Wells' Murderbot Diaries. It comes out in May. I loved the protagonist in the first one and I am really looking forward to reading more about them.

I am also really looking forward to Trail of Lightening by Rebecca Roanhorse: While most of the world has drowned beneath the sudden rising waters of a climate apocalypse, Dinétah (formerly the Navajo reservation) has been reborn. The gods and heroes of legend walk the land, but so do monsters. Maggie Hoskie is a Dinétah monster hunter, a supernaturally gifted killer. When a small town needs help finding a missing girl, Maggie is their last—and best—hope. But what Maggie uncovers about the monster is much larger and more terrifying than anything she could imagine. Maggie reluctantly enlists the aid of Kai Arviso, an unconventional medicine man, and together they travel to the rez to unravel clues from ancient legends, trade favors with tricksters, and battle dark witchcraft in a patchwork world of deteriorating technology.
It sounds very really good and I can't wait for it to come out in July.

I've finished ten books fulfilling 7 squares but they're all over the card. Biography, Sci Fi, YA, Recommended by a friend, Graphic novel, Mystery, Non-fiction

Hmm, now looking at the card all I need are Published The Year You Were Born and One Word Title to get a first line Bingo but I'm looking forward to reading a 100,000 plus fanfiction. I've been missing long Merlin stories.

One great thing about this card is it's really ramped up looking outside my normal reading habits!

That was the really great thing last year. I read a wider range of books than I otherwise would have. Discovered new authors and genres I'd previously overlooked.

Well done on the 10 books so far.

I read 8 books this month, and filled 3 more squares for a total of 6. I read The Roots of Coincidence by Arthur Koestler to fill the non-fiction square; Chinese Alchemy by Jean Cooper to fill the animal on the cover square; and Asylum by Madeleine Roux to fill the YA square.

I'm 2 away from a bingo in the second column, with just the Horror and Fantasy/Sci Fi/etc squares blank. I think I know which books I'm gonna read for both of them.

Also still working my way through 120 Days of Sodom to fill the "at or near the bottom of your TBR." Since I only have the ebook version, it's what I read on my phone whenever I'm waiting in public somewhere. It's quite a disturbing and challenging read but I'm determined to finish it.

For the "diverse reads" square I was thinking of fiction with Hispanic characters/culture. If anyone has any recs I'd be glad to hear em!

Congrats on being close to a bingo! :D

I've Allison Hewitt is Trapped by Madeleine Roux several years ago. I won it over at Goodreads. It's been so long that I don't remember much about it, but I do recall liking it. I need to look into Asylum.

Up to 6 books now with the Children's/YA square and Bottom of TBR pile ticked off - that was Dubliners which has been on the pile for at least ten years, so good to get that out the way! Currently working on The Tower and The Hive by Anne McCaffrey for the Sci-fi square.

I'm reading in the order of the random way I pulled books off my to be read pile at the minute so no bingo imminent; I figure if I want to get competitive I'll read in a more coordinated manner in the second half of the year *g* And I'm reading a few non-bingo books too.

I finished two more books, Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi for the non-fiction square and Charlotte by Karen Aminadra for the romance square. I am reading a biography about Charlotte Bronte right now. It is interesting but a bit slow in places. I am really looking forward to starting a new mystery series that was recommended to me by [livejournal.com profile] fififolle. It took a bit of doing to find the first book in the series but I was finally able to get my hands on The Crow Trap by Ann Cleeves. My local library did not have it and neither did my favorite used book store. Finally ordered it through Amazon, thanks to a gift card I got for Valentines day!

My filled squares are all over the board so not close to a bingo but I have faith that eventually they will meet up and make a bingo. :)

I'm waiting eagerly for my library to get hold of a graphic novel for me called Raven's Gate, from a novel recced to me by [livejournal.com profile] deinonychus_1 - it's actually a YA by Anthony Horowitz, but I'm a fan of Tony Lee who put the graphic novel together. Not sure why I'm trying to put four squares in one book, lol, but will probably go for Graphic Novel for it.

Half way-ish through three books at the mo, lol.
