Post May check-in...
Hope things are going well for everyone!

Another month down...and another check-in post!

How's everyone doing?

Anyone close to a bingo yet? Have you filled any more squares? If so, which ones? What books are you looking forward to reading in the coming months? Need any recs to fill a particular square? Have any recs to others?

There will be a drawing at the end of this month among those who have bingoed. The winner will get an icon of their choice made by me (if they want). You can check my current user pics for examples of my work. I'm not the greatest at it, but I do ok...I think.

Or, I may just offer icons to everyone who has bingoed during the second quarter, depending on how many people it is.

I will repost the info about the drawing in a mod post closer to the end of the month.

For me, personally, I hit a bit of a slump and only finished three books, none of which I ended up using for book bingo.

I did, however, finish a book today and have achieved my first bingo!

As for recs, if you like historical mysteries, I started the Ameila Peabody series by Elizabeth Peters, and was absolutely enchanted by the first book, Crocodile on the Sandbank. You can read more about them, here.

I'm almost at the end of a book for the 'number or colour in the title' square, and after that I'm one square away from two possible bingo lines. I think I know which one I'm going for, so my next book will probably be the biography/autobiography, which should get me a straight line bingo. \o/

I seem to be having a non-fiction phase at the moment, after reading several novels in the first few months of the year. I'm quite amused by how many non-fiction books I'm managing to read to fill these squares. I like how the prompts/squares are so broad and flexible that they can equally apply to fiction or non-fiction, so thanks, mods! :-)

I'm still behind on doing book reviews for the ones I've read. Must have a catch up soon, before I forget the details of what I wanted to say about them.

You are very welcome! We definitely didn't want filling the squares to be stressful for anyone, so we're both very happy that you've been able to fill squares with your currently preferred reading material. :D

The bingo has certainly helped me make a dent in my to-read pile this year. At the start of the year when I got my bingo card, I was going through the pile and making a list of which books would fit particular squares! I was quite pleased when I realised a non-fiction book about bronze age archaeology would fit the 'colour or number in the title' square.

I'm still in the same state I was last check-in, reading some quite big books but being too busy with work and travel to really get stuck in. I did make a bit of an inroads in some reading this weekend, but nowhere near finishing anything just yet.

I managed to read more books this month and I've achieved bingo (https://little-huntress.livejournal.com/38924.html). I hadn't even realized I was going to until I crossed off the mystery/crime square. I've started reading Fun Home which will fill the Non-Fiction square.

The square I have no idea how I'll fill is Out of Your Comfort Zone. I don't know what it could be.

You could always use a wildcard for that square.

I have got hold of The Day of the Jackal which was published the year I was born. I also bought Slaughterhouse 5, because Ren in Footloose says its a classic :D

I have plans to read Richard III, as I'm going to see it in July.

All these plans, and not much reading!! *g*

We nearly died when we saw ticket prices! At least we are only paying for our own, families can be expensive *g* I think it was a case of... sod it *g* Plus accommodation in York is twice what we pay wherever we go usually.

I'vedone no reading since finishing my last book. Um.. a few weeks ago now. I am hoping to catch up this weekend and start my next book which will likely be Neil Gaiman's Norse Mythology.

Edit - damn I'd already replied to this post! See, I don'y know what I'm doing any more! My brain is fried!
