So...over on Goodreads several years ago, one of my friends there was reading a book called, Steamed: A Steampunk Romance, and she absolutely hated it. Didn't finish it, could finish it. I don't remember how it came up (this was 8 years ago), but she offered to send me the book so I could see how bad it was.
I read it...read the whole thing. I was offended. I was offended as a reader, as a reader or romances, and as a woman. I hated that people would read this and judge other romance novels by it.
The one I always think of is The Little Friend by Donna Tartt. I found it a slog to get through, didn't care for any of the characters and nothing is resolved at the end.
I would have said the same! I only read excerpts but it was enough! And I really have a problem with the message about a girl being so submissive and liking that!
