Three books... that are in your current to-read pile
The summer is slowly reaching its end and I'm back with a new series of discussion posts that should lead us to the end of the year and of this year's challenge!

For each post, just answer with three books reference! Just the tile and author or you can add other useful information or a link!

Let's start!

Give us three books that are waiting in your current to-read pile!

1. Red Sparrow by Justin Haythe
2. The Girl Who Lost Her Smile by Miranda Hart
3. Brave by Rose McGowan

I have so many to read books from years and years ago that I’ve yet to read, these titles were just the ones that came to me.

Slightly OT, but I’m really behind with the reading, life has been so busy!

Very interesting bunch of books!! Hard to decide which to read first, when you get some time! I hope you do, but I know what busy can be like :D

Dark Passage by David Goodis I watched the Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall movie on Turner Classic Movies and the announcer spoke about this author's classic noir books and was intrigued.
A Contract With God and other Tenement Stories by Will Eisner
The Miseducation of Cameron Post by Emily M. Danforth This YA novel was recommended by the lead singer of a band I really like.

Unfortunately, none of these are going to fill a BINGO square and neither have the last several books I've read.

Wow. I must get hold of that YA book. My daughter would love it as well!!
Another fascinating pile of reads there. Enjoy!
You can always use your wild cards or squeeze them into a square somehow... :D

You're right, I really need to revisit my card to see if I can somehow fit at least one of these in.

I've got a fair pile by my bed at the mo... three of them are...

Crisis by Felix Francis
Here There Be Gerblins by the McElroy brothers
Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut

I'm not sure which to read!

I should read a K. Vonnegut book, once! *looks at her towering to-read pile, menacing to bury her*

Slaughterhouse Five was mentioned in Footloose, not that's why I want to read it at all.... *g*

I move my piles around and pretend they aren't there, lol!

My daughter got me listening to the Adventure Zone podcasts, it's these brothers and their dad playing D'n'D, and they are so good! The Gerblins graphic novel is just out, the story from an earlier set of podcasts I haven't heard yet! Hopefully I will find out what Gerblins are, hahaa. They are great storytellers, and very silly and fun.

1. The hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy, D. Adams
(As a geek I'm a little ashamed, here!)
2. False Nine, Philip Kerr
(My godmother pushed that book in my hands last time I saw her. It's a crime, it's about English football... It seems to have been made with me in mind!)
3. The Uncommon Reader, Alan Bennett
(A book I've wanted to read for years!)

They are really big books so not going to be quick reads! I do read a lot of non-fiction, especially about women.

Ever since I saw a few episode's of The Alienist on television I have been wanting to read that book. Have you seen the show? I kind of lost track of the series so I never finished it. I'll probably wait now until I read the book so the ending will be more suspenseful.

I watched the first two episodes and thought the series started off well but the rest are languishing on my DVR until I read the book.

1. The Binti Trilogy by Nnedi Okorafor
2. Agatha Christie, an autobiography
3. The Martian by Andy Weir

I have many more but I chose these three because they are the one's that I REALLY want to read but I have to put off until I finish the one's I am already reading. lol

She read a lot of her books when I was a child. Then, she stopped reading completely. Now she's retired since March and she had started reading again! Like a lot! ;-) And the other day she told me she was looking for autobiographies so...

And it seems it's available in French but only since 2002! It wasn't translated before that!

I have 5 books in my "on deck" stack in my room, and the top 3 I can't wait to read are:

1. The History of Luminous Motion by Scott Bradfield
2. Filth by Irvine Welsh
3. The Best American Mystery Stories of the 19th Century edited by Otto Penzler

Filth is the only book I'm counting toward the bingo, to fill the Mystery/Crime square. I'll probably start the anthology of 19th century mystery stories in November, after I finish the compendium of weird fiction stories I'm reading for the Free Space square.

1. The Ancient Guide to Modern Life, by Natalie Haynes. I heard Natalie speak at a conference type thing last year and she was a very entertaining speaker, so I bought her book on the strength of that.

2. In Bed With the Ancient Greeks, by Paul Chrystal. Just look at the title - anyone who knows me knows this topic is right up my street! :-)

3. Streets of Darkness, by A. A. Dhand. This was a complete shot in the dark, I'm not normally a fan of crime fiction, but there was a big article about the author in a writing magazine that I subscribe to, and it sounded a bit different, so I decided to give it a go when I saw the book going cheap on offer in Tesco. Sadly, I have already filled both the 'crime' square and the 'out of your comfort zone' square, so it might not actually fit a bingo even if I do get to it this year :-(
