Mod post: 2019 bingo game - Category suggestion post *NOW CLOSED - 11/19/18*
It's time!

What we'd like to do is have everyone (including Kel and I) suggest, say 10-15 categories in the comments below. Once everyone has had a chance to do that, I'll remove any duplicates and post a final list. We will then begin voting until we narrow that list down to 24 categories. Those will then make up the 2019 card.

New for this year: We will only accept suggestions for about one week or before we begin voting on final categories. Last year was a bit of a scrmble for me getting the cared created and ready in time for the new game to start, so the suggestion period will end sometime around November 18th.

So please post your suggestions below!

I think everyone has covered a fantastic range of choices already.

*An author you’ve never read before
*A spinoff or a story based in a universe shared with another book.
*Inspired or based around a social or political issue, either new/recent or historical
*An author that is famous for something else (YouTuber, Celebrity, Blogger, Sportsperson, TV Presenter etc.)
*Unusual format (such as in second person, through letters, through text messages, etc.)
*A book you wanted to read as a child/teen and never did.

In addition to fifi's 'lifestyle/food' option how about a recipe book where you actually choose two recipes and make and review them!

Very great choices! I just told fifi I added the cookbook food etc too before I checked everyone else's out (great minds think alike!). I love taking it up a notch and actually making the recipes. That could be fun!

Yeah I thought that would be fun. I'm not a huge fan of cooking but am trying to make more of an effort to try new things/new recipes. and as a fall back I love baking so cakes and biscuits count too.

In addition to my list above (couldn't edit due to Keli's reply!) can we please also keep the 2 wild cards.

I was also actually playing around with the idea of adding in one or two more. Alternately, I had an idea of another sort of substitution one could make in addition to the wild cards.

I was trying to think of something too... maybe read a book for someone else's card. They get a square covered for the category you read for them and you get to cover a square of your choice on your own card, category unimportant.

Or a swap read. Like a buddy read but if you partner needs their horror (for example) square filled and you need, let's say, young adult, you could read for each other!

I was thinking like having a list of say 5-10 categories (maybe some of the ones that don't make it on the final card) to use as a substitution for a square you were having trouble with. But you'd also still have the wild cards for which you could read any book of your choice.

I like that idea! I've used my two wild cards already and now find I'm struggling a little bit to fill the last couple of squares (but that's more because I'm running out of time before the end of the year rather than because I can't find things to fill them, to be honest).
