I was given two bookmarks by friends at Christmas, so both are currently in use. If I reserve a book from the library I use the reservation slip.

Don't get me wrong, I love bookmarks, but most of the time they're too thick or heavy (though beautiful or funny!) so it's easy for minions to pull them out. :( Plus I worry about damaging them in my bag.

I usually use the reservation slips from the library or bits of scrap paper.

I never fold a page. :O

Same for me! I only use the beautiful ones at home as I'm afraid of damaging them!

I knew that bit about folding the pages would make people react ;-)

Or losing them. I don't know why they put tassels on bookmarks. I've lost so many that way.

I unfold every book that crosses my path.

I'm having a mini panic attack thinking about people folding the page, lol.

I have a billion bookmarks as I'm a sucker for pretty ones. However, the two that I actually use are ones made by my kids when they were little.

I collect bookmarks. I love, love, love them. I am currently using one I got from Hampton Court Palace when I was there last year. I used to fold the corner of pages but only of books that I own and when I was younger. However, using the library and never folding their pages broke me of the habit.

Oh, I went to Hampton Court two years ago! It was hard to resist all the beautiful merchandising in the store!!

Yes! I think you were chatting with Fifi when I get it. That was such a PERFECT day! The weather, the company, dinner that evening (thank you again!) the whole day!

I have a small collection of bookmarks that I rotate through, often depending on the size of the book. I have a few faves from when my step-mom (who was an elementary school art teacher) used to laminate art cut out from catalogues that she used as prizes in her classes.

I never turn down pages.

I have a collection of bookmarks that I use. I try to match up the bookmark with the book. Like I have a Doctor Who bookmark which I will use with my sci-fi books, and I have a Pride & Prejudice bookmark I use with all my romances and so on...

Confession time I used to dog ear my books all the time when I was young but now just the thought makes me cringe, I will use a random piece of paper instead if I don't have anything else.

I have fancy bookmarks that I bought or that have been gifted to me (it's an easy gift for a book lover) but I'm often afraid of damaging them. So I often use postcards as bookmark for larger books and for the smaller one, as I order a lot of book from Bookdepository, I use the one you receive with all your orders.

Here are the current ones I'm using :

I understand about not using them because they could get damaged. I received a really beautiful one for Christmas and it fell out of my book when I was out and about and I didn't notice until later. Needless to say I was seriously bummed.

I also use the library receipts as bookmarks. Plus the bonus is that at least I remember where it is if I want to check when my books are due back!

I also have a load of other bookmarks - I keep starting books and not finishing them or just losing the bookmarks, so I need plenty. I have a few with tassels on, which I like, as it makes it easier to find the bookmark. One has a rabbit on and says "Keep your nose out of my book". I have some small plastic Doctor Who ones that my mum bought when I complained I could never find a bookmark when I needed one.

My most loved ones are mostly sellotape. There's a plastic Spock one, and one my sister gave me because she didn't use it any more. It's cardboard. The whole thing is cheese with some holes in and a mouse who's full. The words are "I'll finish this later." It has completely fallen apart, but I love it.

I find it particularly useful for a longer book to see how soon it needs to go back.

Fold the page? Never! I have dozens of bookmarks that I've picked up all over the place: bookstores, gift shops, online. Or received as gifts. You can't have too many bookmarks! Well, I can't. *g*

I've got a huge collection of vary shapes/sizes/etc. They're picked based on the size of the book, if they don't clash horribly with the cover, and while I don't try to match it with the subject, I'm not going to use the cutest one I have for a really dark non-fiction, for example.
Just grabbed one of the two that I've got from Bring Your Own Book.

*le gasp* Folding a page? Never! :-O

I use random things for bookmarks, since I have a tendency to lose them sometimes. I snagged a bunch from the library a few months ago, and randomly from my bank (will never sneer at a free bookmark, unless the subject matter is awful)...am currently using a bookmark about Alzheimers since it's longer than a normal bookmark. But I've used mail, random pieces of paper, appointment cards, etc. The library also had some really cute mini-bookmarks for a postcard collection they had on display. I got a few of those since they had different images. I haven't used any yet, though.

My boyfriend's mother gave me a metal bookmark that slides on the page like a paperclip for Christmas, but I will probably never use it. I just prefer the stiffer paper bookmarks.

I never, ever fold the page. D:

I also collect bookmarks and have in in varying styles. I just grab which ever one grabs my fancy at that particular moment.

I mostly read ebooks on my phone but otherwise I use the due slip from the library as a bookmark. It's easy enough to position under the last line I was reading, and it's gotten me to break my habit of folding the corner.

I definitely never fold the page! :)

I have a bunch of bookmarks - most of them I've gotten for free from various bookstores, like Book Depository. I also have some fancy ones, but I hardly ever use those because I'm afraid they'll get ruined or ugly. So yeah, most of the time I'm using my free bookmarks :)

I have some gorgeous bookmarks but I seldom use them as they are more like souvenirs than practical items. I tend to use a slip of paper or a post-it note. Sometimes I use the little page tags like in the image above. I use those when I'm researching and want to mark several pages!

I read a lot on my tablet too so just use the bookmark facility in Kindle.

I never fold page corners down. Hell I don't even crack the spine if I can help it.
