Mine is definitely The Outsiders from SE Hinton. I read and reread that book until it was falling apart!

I can't do book favorites. Lol My favorite author was Tamora Pierce. I have all her books and read them every year a few times. I love all of them but one. Especially the one's that featured Aly, Nawat, Kel or Briar.

Btw, this is awesome! :D

I'd read The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe as a child, but didn't read the rest until university. Really enjoyed them then.

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is mine! I read it multiple times! And back then, it was the only book from the series that was translated in French. I learned about the other books years later!

It's wild the entire series wasn't translated.

The Cats by Joan Phipson

It was the very first book I read in school and it's the one that got me a lifelong passion for reading (will always have fond memories of it despite some of the content being upsetting to me today <3)

I don't know that I could read it again now, but back then, it was just what I needed to make me read.

(It was kind of a "cat's get revenge on humans" sort of book)

So glad it kicked started your love of reading. I always wonder if I could read The Outsiders again. I don’t want to lose the magic it held for me back then.

My favourite childhood book that was read to me was Koala Lou by Mem Fox, I just remember my mum always reading that to me.

My favourite childhood book that I read myself has to be Harry Potter without a doubt.

I love, love, love Harry Potter but I was in my 20s when it came out so I can't count it as a childhood book... darn it. LOL

I have two.

"A Wrinkle in Time" by Madeleine L'Engle. Discovering Meg Murry was pivotal for me. I'd never read anyone I identified with as much as I did her.

"Summer of My German Soldier" by Bette Greene. I was nine when I read this the first time. It ripped my heart out. It had another heroine who feels different than everyone else, and I loved the way it addressed issues like anti-Semitism and racism.

I honestly had so many favourites but I would have to go with A Tale of Two Cities. I read the children's version for the first time when I was 10 in school and it made such an impact on me. Especially Madame Defarge's story which broke my heart. I read it all in the one afternoon (being the children's version it was very short (https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51D%2BEa5gR2L._SR600%2C315_PIWhiteStrip%2CBottomLeft%2C0%2C35_SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg)) and then went to the school library to find the adult version. I'd always loved reading and been the child who carried books and notebooks to write down my own stories but that book made me realize what an effect reading and stories can have on us. It's still an all time favourite<3

Awesome idea!

My favourite book from childhood was actually a hardback book of nursery rhymes. I kept it long after I should probably have given it up, not for the rhymes, but for the pictures. The illustrations in this book were gorgeous and there was so much detail to look for in every page. A little like 'Where's Wally', but there were little things like ladybirds, toadstools, gold coins or fairies to spot on every single page. I could have spent hours just looking for things.

I don't have the book any more and i've never even come close to finding anything so beautifully illustrated.

Project Pendulum, by Robert Silverberg. I was a huge sci-fi fan when I was younger, and I got this book out of the library *several* times, and even used it as the basis for a creative writing assignment for my GSCE English course.

I actually own a copy now - some one found it for me on Amazon or something, but I've never quite dared to re-read it as an adult, in case the reality of it doesn't live up to the memory!
