Borrowed this book from my friend (have to give it back yet). She bought it in Scotland at the airport when we were there last year. I was excited to read it until I opened it and found it was in first person. I hate first person. Not many authors can get first person right, imo, and this author really couldn't either. :(

Actually I have a copy now, but for years I remembered Marian Niven's The Altar and the Crown by where it was shelved in my neighborhood library. I read it over and over, in those pre-Internet days. And then I got a copy through Amazon and discovered it had sequels, which was exciting until I read them. (sigh)

I'm having a hard time coming up with an answer for this one. I usually end up buying a book if I like it enough.

Me too. I tend to forget about Hoopla all the time!

OT: I seriously need to beg you to make me some Chris icons as the ones I am finding here all have the photobucket "im so expensive you can't afford me" tag. Stupid photobucket. So many artists' work have been ruined because photobucket is outrageously greedy.

Agree about Photobucket. I canceled my account when they tried that $400 a year to link outside of PB stunt.

I always have a few books from my Godmother at home as we are making exchanges when we see each other! At the moment, I have a Philip Kerr book, "January Window" (in French).

I currently have two books that don't belong to me. One is a library book - Dancing With the Virgins, by Stephen Booth, and the other is the second Ben Aaronovich Rivers of London book, borrowed from a friend.

Hades' Daughter by Sara Douglass. A friend loaned it to me but it's such a monster, I broke down and bought the ebook. My husband still hasn't returned it. LOL
