When the Lord of the Rings movies came out I bought the Silmarillion. A bit later I was cleaning out some boxes from my teenage years and found a copy I had gotten as a Christmas gift when I was about 13. It was a cool find!

This book.

Goodreads

I apparently bought it sometime ago, but didn't remember it. I bought it again last year when shopping with my sister. It seems I neglected to add it to Goodreads when I bought it the first time, and that's how I keep tabs of what I already or have read when out and about. I only realized what I'd done when I went to put the second copy in my book cabinet and there was already one there, lol.

My mom took the extra copy.

I don't have a specific example in mind but I'm really bad at remembering which volumes I have in comics series!

This actually happened today. LH was looking at my shelf and asked, what is this book about?
Me: Which one?
LH: By Amy Tan.
Me: ..Oh. I don't know. I haven't read it yet.

:O
Ages ago for some reason I took someone's advice and bought a handful of used books to read to..I think avoid the pressure of a library deadline? So I'd expand my reading list with books that were well..not my genre.

There was some kind of plan..I bet I have a few more on that shelf. I'm hoping to get to them through Bingo this year.
It comes down to moods..

I think I'd hit LJ's comment character limit if I even tried to answer this question. I'm constantly finding books and thinking, "Huh, didn't know I had a copy of this..."

Neil Gaiman's The Graveyard Book. I think it was actually one I kept when my daughter was sorting out books to get rid of.
