I have 3 copies of Lord of the Rings. I have the book as one entire book how it was originally published, then a set of the three from years before the movies and then the movie tie in set.

I also have Harry Potter duplicates. I have the beautiful hard cover set I would buy as they came out and then anytime I see a paperback someone does get at our library book sales I get it as a reading copy.

I'm with you on this. I have several copies of Lord of the Rings. My favourite is the hardback one with illustrations by Alan Lee.

I have a few books that fall into this category.

1. I have the entire Outlander series both in hardcover and paperback.
2. I have three versions of "A Wrinkle in Time": the one from my childhood, the version I bought myself brand new as a young adult, and then the 50th anniversary commemorative hardcover edition.
3. Roger Zelazny's Amber Chronicles. I have all of the individual books in paperback, and "The Great Book of Amber" which has all ten novels in it.

That’s great. I keep meaning to read the Outlanders series. I saw the movie for A Wrinkle in Time and would love to read the book.

Wrinkle was probably the most influential book of my childhood. Meg was the heroine I didn't know I needed and am endlessly grateful I found. I enjoyed the movie, but the message about individuality as a strength and what it says about love is absolutely profound in the book.

The Court of the Stone Children, which I meant to give my niece, and a couple of Georgette Heyer novels because I found a nice edition for when the old ones fall apart. Because they will.

I usually have two copies of a book because I can't resist an anniversary edition. I have The Sunne in Splendour, by Sharon Kay Penman, King's Salem's Lot and The Stand, F. Paul Wilson's Nightworld, and, on its way, Robert McCammon's Usher's Passing.

Oh my God, I love The Sunne in Splendour. Not nearly enough people know about Sharon Kay Penman.

As an avowed Ricardian, the book has a place of honor. I love all of her work, but this one is at the top of my list.

I bought a paperback copy of Aurora by Kim Stanley Robinson. I forgot that I already had an ebook copy on my kindle.

I haven't read either one yet.

I have two paperback copies of North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell because I couldn't decide between the two in the bookstore - one was a Norton Critical Edition and the other was a similar type of a more academic leaning edition from another imprint. I think one had historical footnotes and I know one had some sort of crib notes for slang. I thought both would be interesting if I ever got around to reading it. I've had them for over 10 years, though, so it doesn't look like that will be happening anytime immediately, haha. I mainly love the BBC mini-series (see icon), which I imagine would make Gaskell turn in her grave, perhaps. Kissing in a train station? The scandal! XD

The more recent multiple copies I have are for The Care and Feeding of Ravenously Hungry Girls by Anissa Gray. I had forgotten that I had entered a Goodreads giveaway before I snagged a digital copy on Edelweiss, and I actually won the giveaway. I would give it away to someone on LJ, but since they sent me an actual hardcover, imma gonna see if my local used bookstore will give me some dough for it after I read it, since I could really use the cash right now. I actually prefer reading hard copies if I have the option, but I don't like OWNING hard copies of everything I read.

I have about 5 copies of a book called Sovereign by R.M. Meluch
I lived for that book when I was a teenager, I read it, re-read it, loved it so much I actually emailed the author and we had some wonderful chats about it.
She's my favourite author from my teen years and I still love that book more than I can say <3
It's a very hard book to read tho because it's proper science fiction, amazingly detailed, and so many wonderful characters (and my two favourite characters had their happy ending <3 <3 <3)

Second favourite is New X-Men: Here Comes Tomorrow, I own soooo many copies of that it's just not even funny *facepalm*
That is my favourite comic character, Tom Skylark, he was only in that one story, so I have it as two hardcovers, about four trades, and digital...so much love!

That is so awesome that you were able to talk to the actual author about the book you loved so much! I am so glad your two favorite characters had their happy ending!

Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth books. My husband would buy them as they came out but, since he's a local author, I will often find autographed copies at our Barnes & Noble. So, we have two of most of the whole series.

I own HP in hardback, paperback, audiobook, and the illustrated editions as they're released.

And then I have various books that I own in various combos of physical, ebook, and/or audiobook format.

I have two copies of Ella Enchanted. And I know I have some kid book duplicates.

I'd like to get Jim Dale's audio for Harry Potter and have duplicates that way. <3
