Definitely for me it would be Lord of the Rings and the Harry Potter series. The movies have a big part of keeping the books alive for me.

YES! We can still chat about these now. Even silly memes like "One does not just walk into Mordor" keep it alive.

Definitely the "Rivers of London" series! Since I started it a few months ago, I've talked about it to so many people!!

I don't read a ton of YA (I tend to be really picky), but as soon as someone mentions wanting YA recs, I bring up Laini Taylor's "Daughter of Smoke & Bone" series. The author's voice is stunning, her characters fully formed, and the stories themselves feel original (even when the tropes are not). She is what I wish YA fantasy was, and I want her to be as well-loved as she deserves.

Agreed with stellar re: Harry Potter. I was SO EXCITED when my older daughter not only started reading them but fell in love with the books as much as she did the movies.

Joining the Harry Potter explosion. Though I was very reluctant to even read them in the beginning. :D

Also almost anything by Tamora Pierce, Brian Jacques and Eoin Colfer (who I thought was actually Artemis Fowl) and Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine.
