Mid-year Resolutions Review
So, we're nearing the end of the first half of the year... Back in January, we set ourselves some goals (https://ljbookbingo.livejournal.com/28981.html)

Where are you with these goals? Have you already reached some of them? Are you on the way to reach them or completely behind schedule?

I'm at 28 out of 42 books for my Goodreads challenge which means I'm ahead of schedule - hooray! And I surprised myself by having achieved Blackout on my Book Bingo - which included audiobooks, which I don't count in Goodreads (personal preference). I've also set myself the target of reading all four of the books on the shortlist for the James Tait Black fiction prize, before the winner is announced in August, because I'm going to be taking a short online course How to Read a Novel (https://www.futurelearn.com/courses/how-to-read-a-novel/5).

I'm at 38/75 books on the Goodreads challenge, 4 books ahead of schedule, so yay :) I like to try and stay about 5 books ahead of schedule so I don't feel rushed to complete each book or risk falling behind.

I've read 14 out of 25 books for the bingo, so I'm about half way done, right on schedule. I try to read at least 2 bingo books each month, but for June, July, and August the planned books are very long (like almost 700 pages long) so I'm only reading one bingo book each month in summer. But I planned for this as well, which is why I read 3 bingo books in February, April, and May.

I'm one square away from having blackout on my bingo card.

I'm up to 49 books read out of my 50 target for the year on Goodreads, which means I majorly underestimated my target!  I've got 19 squares completed on my bingo card, just need to do the reviews for them now.

This has been a great challenge for me.

I'm at 34 books out of the goal of 50 I've set for the year. I'll probably be increasing that goal before too long. I've filled in 14 out of 25 squares on the bingo card, and am having fun playing various reading games at BookLikes.

I'm quite pleased with where I'm at so far.

There's been two so far this year: a reading game based on Snakes and Ladders which wrapped up at the end of May, and currently, Booklikes-opoly, which is what it sounds like: a reading game based on Monopoly. I believe it'll run until sometime in August and then the annual Halloween Bingo game will go through September and October. And we should round out the year with the 24 Festive Tasks game.

It's a game that runs through November and December, and the game hosts set up various tasks (book tasks and other things) related to various holidays and you earn a point for each one you complete.

I'm at 43 out of 80 books for my Goodreads challenge, so pretty on track there.

I'm putting the Popsugar challenge on hold a bit, though. It was stressing me out trying to read all the categories instead of reading things that I really wanted to read. When a book I choose to read fits a category, I'll include it, but I'm not going to worry if I don't finish that challenge this year. Not enough time to read books I'm not really interested in.

Which is also why I'm not rushing to finish my bingo card. That said, I only have 5 squares left.

I had wanted to try the Popsugar challenge and my fear was exactly that it would put me under pressure and makes me read things I didn't really want to read... I think I'm not reading enough to do such a challenge.

I missed that post, but I did have to change my Goodreads goal to 100 because I met it thanks to my first bingo card.
I'm now working on my third card and still tracking books I read in general that aren't for Bingo, which I did last year.
Right now we're doing Summer reading through the library.
I don't think I'm reading as much as last year, but I am definitely reading more diversely. :D

I'm 31 of 52 on my GoodReads challenge, so I'm 8 ahead on that. I like to keep it at one book per week in case I feel like reading a big fat doorstopper during the year. I'll increase it if I get ridiculously ahead of my goal. But so far that hasn't happened.

On the squares I'm having a problem with Chosen by cover (I don't do this - I work from a list, recommendations and reviews.) and Made into a tv show. The other blank spots (https://cinnamontoast.livejournal.com/737233.html) can easily be filled by other books on my to-read list.

I'd love some recommendations for the tv show square. I don't read YA or romance. (Also, I've read Handmaid's Tale and pretty much all of Atwood's catalog.)

For the TV show, I read the manga/comic of Sherlock. There is also The Alienist.by Caleb Carr. If you're not against a big book: "The Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follet.

I didn't think of manga or comics. Anime to the rescue!

If you ever read detective stories, they're a good source for made into a TV show.

Oh! That's a great idea. There was a new Harry Bosch released last year that I started and never finished. I'll pick that book back up.

I'm at 37/100, so 8 books behind which is about the same as this time last year so I'm not too worried. I have 6 books to go to fill my first bingo card.

I had two objectives for this year :

The Goodread challenge: I have read 25 books on 30. As I read a few graphic novels and comics, I think I'm going to raise my objective and go for 40 books.

This bingo: I have actually read 16 books on the 25 needed for the blackout. I have at least 4 more books planned and two wild cards left so I think I'm on the right path here!
