What are you reading this holiday season? I just finished The Boy, The Horse, The Fox and The Mole by Charles Mackesy. This book was recommended by my dear friend justjo2u. I think she will agree with me when I say everyone needs to read this book!
I'm trying to finish the middle book in the Demon Cycle series before it gets snatched off my Kobo by the library in 3 days! Still have so much to go. I suppose I can just re-borrow it if I have to!
It's about creatures ("demons") that come out at night so people (in this middle ages type setting) have to hide behind magical symbols that repel them to avoid getting eaten. But two separate individuals have discovered that there are also lost 'fighting' wards that allow them to fight back against the creatures. I am totally caught up in the story. The world building is excellent!
I found it at my library (the first book is called The Warded Man) so maybe check yours if you decided to try it out. :)

Belated merry Christmas, and just in time happy new year to everyone at book bingo. May 2022 be full of good books and exciting new book/author/genre discoveries.
I'm technically between books at the moment. My last book a couple of weeks ago was The Long Call by Ann Cleeves, which is the first book in a new series about detective Matthew Venn. The next book on my to read pile (hopefully over the new year weekend) is The Heron's Cry, which is the *second* book in the Matthew Venn series. I feel I may have discovered a shiny new obsession... :-)
