So, which of these adaptations are you the most excited about?
The second season of Bridgerton (particularly as I’ve read the second book which will be the storyline for this season). I’m also interested to see the new Lord of the Rings TV series as well (though I must admit I’ve not read the books — I found them too hard to read when I was young and never tried again, but I really enjoyed the films).

What is your all-time favourite book adaptation?
Pride and Prejudice 1995 miniseries which is tied with the 2009 miniseries of Emma.

What book(s) would you like to see adaptated into a film or a TV series?
The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton

What is the worst film/TV adaptation in your opinion?
The Golden Compass — I’m so glad that BBC/HBO did His Dark Materials because they adapted it way much better.

The LOTR books were much easier to read when I got older although reading them sort of ruined a bit of the movies for me. One of my favorite characters Eomer had a much much bigger role in the books and he was pretty much shoved in the background in the movies. Even the genius Peter Jackson can't live up to my standards. LOL

Most excited - Probably a Discovery of Witches,or the LoTR prequel.. But I can't believe they missed the new Jack Reacher series starting on Amazon this week... I am definitely watching that!

All time favourite- Anne of Green Gables (very early version in the 70s)

Book adapted - Dragonrider by Anne McCaffrey. But I wanted Michael Praed to play F'lar, and he's too old now...

Worst adaptation- most of them, to be honest. I almost always prefer the book!

A Dragonriders movie or series would be/have been amazing 😻

I still haven't caught up with Discovery of Witches series 2. Series 1 was really good though.

Oh God Michael Praed. There's a blast from my past.

So, which of these adaptations are you the most excited about?

There are a couple. Mostly Salem's Lot, (as long as they don't turn it into the mess like the latest The Stand. And Killers of the Flower Moon. The book was exceptional.

What is your all-time favourite book adaptation?

The Dead Zone. Which is why I could never watch the tv series.

What book(s) would you like to see adapted into a film or a TV series?

I'd like them to continue with Jeff Shaara's Civil War novels, specifically the ones dealing with Grant.

What is the worst film/TV adaptation in your opinion?

The Beast Master by Andre Norton.

Oh God, I don't know how they managed to ruin The Stand when they had 9 hours to tell the tale, and they still managed it. I still love the original TV miniseries, though.

Oooh, Dead Zone. Good pick. That was a great adaptation.

The new Stand series was awful 🤦‍♀️
I will always love the original mini-series 👍

So, which of these adaptations are you the most excited about? Death on the Nile for sure. I loved Murder on the Orient Express — moreso because I was completely ignorant to the story, so it was quite a surprise at the the end.

What is your all-time favourite book adaptation? The very unpopular Sahara .. that movie got me wanting to know the characters more, and I ended up buying every single Clive Cussler book that was available, to that point.

What book(s) would you like to see adaptated into a film or a TV series? I have not read enough books, honestly.. but I'd love to see more of the NUMAverse (which won't happen, of course, post-Sahara. SIGH)

What is the worst film/TV adaptation in your opinion? Can't say, as I haven't read/seen enough book-to-movie titles to judge

I’m with you on Sahara, that movie made me love the characters so much I read all the books 😸

Great discussion questions!

So, which of these adaptations are you the most excited about? Most looking forward to the LOTR prequel like a few others here. I am just afraid of them messing it up.

What is your all-time favorite book adaptation? Harry Potter by far. I never thought JK Rowling's world could become any richer than her books but seeing all that magical stuff come to life was jaw dropping. Plus they were very true to the books.

What book(s) would you like to see adapted into a film or a TV series? Three Sisters, Three Queens by Philippa Gregory

What is the worst film/TV adaptation in your opinion? I hate to say this but part 3 of the Hobbit. I cannot believe how far they veered from the book when it came to the deaths of Fili, Kili. In the books they died heroically protecting Thorin. I don't want to even talk about how they died on film. *was sooooo mad*

So, which of these adaptations are you the most excited about? Probably Persuasion. It is my favorite Jane Austen book. Although I really loved the 1995 version with Ciaran Hinds and Amanda Root so it will have to be pretty good to beat that one.
What is your all-time favourite book adaptation? Maybe the LOTR series?
What book(s) would you like to see adaptated into a film or a TV series? Murderbot series from Martha Wells
What is the worst film/TV adaptation in your opinion? I've seen some pretty bad Agatha Christie adaptations here lately. Like they are all trying to be super grim/dark for some reason.

Ooh, Murderbot! I'm not sure how they'd manage it because so much of it is MB's internal musings (and watching its shows, of course, lol) but a good writer could probably pull it off. That would be such fun.

Hard HARD same. Then again, I'm partial to anything Ciaran is in :D

Ciaran is so good. I met him briefly at stage door after Hamlet at the Barbican in London. He's one of those people who, when you're talking to them, you feel like they can see right into your soul. He's got such intense eyes.

Which of these adaptations are you the most excited about?
I can't say I'm excited about any of them, but I didn't know they were making a new "Salem's Lot" so I will definitely check that out because I loooove King.

What is your all-time favourite book adaptation?
I'm not sure if these count because they are kinda only adaptations in name only, but I loved the most recent "Planet of the Apes" trilogy (with Andy Serkis) and Will Smith's version of "I Am Legend." Also, "Peter Rabbit" with Rose Byrne and the voice of James Corden.

What book(s) would you like to see adapted into a film or a TV series?
Hmm. I would love love love to see a proper, multi-year commitment with great casting of the Dark Tower books by Stephen King. But I think that may be a pipe dream.

What is the worst film/TV adaptation in your opinion?
Speaking of The Dark Tower, that horrible adaptation that tried to squish in 7 books worth of ideas into 2 hours definitely wins. Runner-up is the most recent version of "The Stand" which had 9 hours to play with and still managed to fuck everything up.

Hmm Salem's Lot. I'd love to see that. Too bad I didn't see this before. A book that's becoming a tv/movie in 2022 is a popsugar challenge prompt. I read one that's not on your list Mz Marvel. I am looking forward to that

Oh wow. So many things there to watch out for. I had no idea they were doing a film of Where the Crawdads Sing. I'm currently reading that.

I'll have a think about the questions and come back to it.

So, which of these adaptations are you the most excited about?
Persuasion (I want more adaptations of Jane Austen stuff...)
Ms. Marvel series (not listed, but should be on Disney+ sometime this year)
School for Good and Evil (never read the series but hell yes to Charlize Theron)
The Power (Never read but sounds interesting)
Bridgerton Season 2 (again never read the book, but I did enjoy the first season)
A Discovery of Witches (just saw the first season, so looking forward to seeing the rest, still never read the book.)
Peter Pan & Wendy (yes to Jude Law as Hook.)
Luckiest Girl Alive (never read it, but I do like Mila)

There might be a few others that I'd eventually see but the above are the ones I'm more likely to see first.

What is your all-time favourite book adaptation?
Anne of Green Gables (80s films), Practical Magic, Pride & Prejudice (1995 series) and Emma (series) are all very good, but I have not actually read them. Outlander is good, I've only seen the first season and started the book but they seemed to follow each other well.
Other than that the Marvel Cinematic Universe and various other Superhero movies/shows. I'm a huge fan of Marvel and DC Comics so I enjoy the movies/shows even if they do change things.
For books that I've read and seen movie/TV version of, it would be Little House on the Prairie, Harry Potter, To All the Boys I've Loved Before, and the Twilight series (despite the fact that everyone hates it now, the film series did actually follow the books very well, sometimes line-by-line which until that point I never really saw.) There might be others but those are all I can think of right now.

What book(s) would you like to see adapted into a film or a TV series?
The Dark-Hunter/Were-Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon would make an amazing series. I think HBO or like Netflix could really do it well.
Her Royal Highness by Rachel Hawkins
The Kiss Quotient/The Bride Test/The Heart Principle by Helen Hoang
Tell Me How You Really Feel by Aminah Mae Safi
Romantically Challenged by Marina Adair
Twice Shy by Sarah Hogle
The Roommate by Rosie Danan
All The Feels by Olivia Dade
Spoiler Alert by Olivia Dade
The Ex Hex Erin Sterling
Payback's A Witch by Lana Harper
Satisfaction Guaranteed by Karelia Stetz-Waters
I Kissed A Girl by Jennet Alexander
Witch Please by Ann Aguirre

Yeah I read mostly romance books, lol. And Everything beyond the first one, I have just recently read.

What is the worst film/TV adaptation in your opinion?
Blood & Chocolate is my #1, closely followed by Ella Enchanted (why make it a musical?).... I'm sure they are a few others but those are the ones I refuse to ever watch again and have never watched more than once.

Ooh, I’m excited about Ms. Marvel too. And I can think of some Marvel movies that I would rank high on a “best book adaptations” list — CA:TWS comes immediately to mind.

Exactly! CATWS was sooo good ♥ Even the Hawkeye TV series did really well combining the Matt Fraction comic series with MCU elements. Honestly I haven't been disappointed with any of the MCU Disney+ series so far.

I know my best friend loves Ms. Marvel, and while I grew up with Carol as Ms. Marvel, and have yet to read the comics for Kamala Khan series, I have seen the Marvel Rising cartoon series and I love her character in that series.

So, which of these adaptations are you the most excited about?
Death On The Nile, The Time Travellers Wife, All Quiet On The Western Front (I do like Daniel Bruhl), and of course Salem’s Lot

What is your all-time favourite book adaptation?
Comic adaptation would have to be the Matt Faction comic/Hawkeye tv series, it’s nearly 100% accurate to the comic, which I loved so damn much 😻
But also The Man From Earth, which was adapted from a screenplay but it’s so good 🙀
Both the original screenplay, which I read in a single sitting, and the movie, which kept me empngrossed for the entire time, are just so brilliantly done, it’s a closed room script with a cast of about six but it never gets boring and the twist at the end was so unexpected! 👍

What book(s) would you like to see adaptated into a film or a TV series?
The Element of Fire by Martha Wells ❤️❤️❤️ (pipe dream, i know, but damn it was a good fantasy romp 😻)

What is the worst film/TV adaptation in your opinion?
Tom Cruise trying to be Jack Reacher 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
