Hi!!! First, that picture you posted? I love it -- putting together little tableaux of books with similarly colored covers makes me happy. :)

Reading is going great so far and I'm happy to have something to prompt me to look for titles with specific starting letters. I read three books in February (along with my usual essays, short stories, and other junk I don't count for the bingo action) -- March will most likely be the same.

I love that pic too. I might try and do something like that with my books.

That would make for a great post where everyone posts a little tableaux of their books! I will tuck that away for a future post this month. :D

Reading has been slow going so far this year, but that's okay. I've been enjoying what I've been reading and that's what counts.

Hah, no. I read three books and one cookbook last month.

March is getting caught up on my ARCs and reviews. Other than that, no real TBR.

I'm at 7 of 26 letters, which isn't too bad I suppose. It's 26% and we're not even through the first quarter of the year so, theoretically, I'm on track. LOL

Stayed on track for February, knocked off another three of the Wheel of Time books. They're getting longer so I'm not sure I can keep up the reading pace going forward, but sure am enjoying the reads!

How is your reading going so far? So far I've done pretty good.

Did you get lots of book read in February? I can't complain.

What is on the agenda for March? I am just mood reading for the most part and if it fits in the challenge's I've signed up for all the better.

How are you doing with your book challenge? The A-Z challenge I am doing pretty good. I have J,K,X,&Y left so I am doing pretty good. It has been a very fun challenge so far.

Gosh where is the year going.

How is your reading going so far? > Have to admit it's ground to a halt right now.

Did you get lots of book read in February? > Nope. I finished Where the Crawdads Sing and stopped. Need a kickstart now.

What is on the agenda for March? > The Midnight Library by Matt Haig ;)

How are you doing with your book challenge? > I'm one book behind schedule according to Goodreads. I'll catch up though.

Mine actually kinda came to a halt too. I am getting smaller books read but nothing I can really sink my teeth into. Must be the time of year!

I think I might grab a smaller book to get me started again. Get back into the groove. I also need to finish Atomic Habits pretty soon.

Maybe try something completely different to get you reading again?

My first five books this year were crime novels and popular science, and then I started to get a bit 'ugh, not another one' when I was looking at my to-read pile. Then a friend at writers club was asking for romance novel recommendations, so I went back through my kindle and dug out loads of m/m romance recs for her, and that got me in the mood to read some m/m romance myself, which is something I've not done for ages. And then I whistled straight through a trilogy of (admittedly quite short novella length) books! And really enjoyed them, as well :-)

This is my card so far:

Image

I got seven books read in February, which is quite a lot. Especially considering that it's a short month!

I hope March turns out to be the same, but I don't actually have an agenda. I read what I want, and hope for the best.

This book challenge or others? I've finished the local library challenge. got my mug, and am in the drawing for an iPad. My Mount TBR is going well. I've gone with a higher challenge, sixty books instead of forty-eight. Same with Goodreads. The only challenge not going that well is the "I Read Horror Year Round." Some of the prompts don't fit my reading style.

I am not a big Horror fan so I would totally fail that challenge. lol

Exactly. I can see having a template of sorts, but it doesn't always work out that you can fill it, so I'll see how it goes.

Somewhat to my surprise, I'm doing quite well. I'm currently in the middle of my eigth book, and considering that I only read seven books in the *whole* of last year, I'm definitely calling it a win!

Although annoyingly, I managed to accidentally read two books starting with M. I'd forgotten that I had already filled the M square, and thought that all three books in a trilogy would be new fills. I only realised the other day that book one also starts with M and that one was already taken. I know I could use a free square, but I don't want to use one so early in the year, in case of emergency when it gets to November and December and I'm rushing to fill those final squares! Oh well, books two and three definitely fill new letters, and I've enjoyed reading all three books, so so it's not the end of the world.

I reallly must get round to posting some book reviews. I've written about four, just not actually posted them yet.

I think I might slow down slightly in March, though. I need to break from books and read some magazines to stop the backlog piling up again, after I'd nearly got on top of it last year.

Wow you are definitely starting out with a bang!

Yeah I've double read some letters myself. I figure I am just going to read what I want until make the last 3 or 4 months of the year and see what letters are left!
(Reply) (Parent) (Thread) (Link)
[identity profile] deinonychus-1.livejournal.com on March 6th, 2022 01:17 pm (UTC)
I suspect it won't be the last double letter of then year. There are some books that I very definitely want to read this year and I know they double up on other books that I also want to read (yes, I'm looking at you, 'A'!).

I'll probably do much the same as you, and read pretty much what I want until the second half of the year, and then see what letters are still outstanding. I know we all like to get a bit competitive when there's a challenge, but the point of book bingo is to be fun and encourage reading, not to be stressful, or feel forced to read (or not read) something just because it fits the bingo.

I'm currently on Book 22. I read 9 books in February, so I'm ahead of schedule.

I'm hoping to read 9 more books in March. I've got 4 I took out from the library. Then I've got 2 that were picked for me (out of a stack that I've had sitting unread, called the "dusty bookshelf" in the comm) and 2 from two different series that I'm trying to get caught up on (also from a challenge called "finish what you started".) And lastly, the 9th book is the first in a new series I want to start. I KNOW, I KNOW.

Wow that is a lot of books and a lot of challenges! I love the dusty bookshelf term. What is that community all about? Sounds very interesting.

[identity profile] severina2001.livejournal.com on March 4th, 2022 06:24 pm (UTC)
It's a community on Goodreads called The Challenge Factory. They have a few different things you can sign up for. Dusty Bookshelf and Finish What You Started are two of them. At the end of each month you post a list of books you've got on hand that you haven't read (for Dusty Bookshelf) and different series that you've started but not finished (for FWYS). Then you're put in pairs and someone picks two of the DB books and two of the series for you to work on reading that month. It's just a fun way to get motivated to stay on track. :)

My reading's been going pretty well. I'm up to 16 books read, 5 of which were in Feb and I've crossed off 9 squares so far. March probably won't be quite as productive as I'm reading some large books at the moment including a fascinating history of the Faber publishing company.

How is your reading going so far?
Not too bad — though it’s been a bit lax the past two weeks as uni has gone back.

Did you get lots of book read in February?
I managed to read two books in February which is good!

What is on the agenda for March?
Social Queue by Kay Kerr and The Maid by Nita Prose (both feature the main character as neurodivergent/autistic women, which is great to see such representations)

How are you doing with your book challenge?
I’ve read 5 out of 26 books so far!
