Ta-da!

I am so excited, I can barely stand it. Fall is my favorite time of year! This mini-challenge is set up exactly like the last three challenges. Cover your card to be entered into a drawing at the end of the year for a $25 Amazon gift card.

This challenge begins on September 1 at 12:00 a.m. You are free to begin any book for the card this weekend, but it will not count unless you finish it September 1 or after. To those who love to read but are finding it hard to complete your cards, just remember that short stories, children's books, etc. count if they fit the square!

If anyone has a hard time reading the orange squares, please let me know and I will write them out. It looks lighter than it did in my adobe program.

Please post any questions you might have regarding any square and we will answer them.

Free but Halloweeny = Anything with murder, mayhem, mystery, monsters, fall, or just anything that reminds YOU of the season!

Classic Horror = Horror fiction that was published prior to 1990, i.e., Frankenstein, Dracula or anything that has horror elements prior to 1990. Lots of good horror came out in the 70s and 80s.

It is hard to believe that we are going into the final week of the summer book bingo! You have until midnight August 31, 2021 to finish any book you want counted towards your card.

Read a Book with Terrible Reviews Resources: If you are having a hard time finding a book with bad reviews (reviews can be very subjective), any from goodreads worst lists will count. You can find 2020's list HERE!. Another resource can be found here: Bestselling Books with Bad Reviews.

Read a Vacation Destination Book: This can be a nonfiction travel book about a place you've always wanted to visit or can be a fiction book about characters traveling on vacation (traveling on vacation needs to be the main premise of the book). For example I am going to try to read The Getaway Girls by Dee MacDonald.

Read a book you saw a tv/movie character read: honor_reid found a great resource if you are having trouble finding a book for this square. https://booksareeverywhere.tumblr.com/

We are down to the final week and-a-half of the first mini-challenge here at LJ Book Bingo! I hope you have all done well! For those of you who want to get your name in the end-of-the-year drawing for the $25 amazon gift card, please comment here with a link to your completed card or, alternatively, you can post your completed card/books in a comment below. I will then add you to the list that is under the cut.

You still have until March 31 at 11:59 p.m. to get your squares covered. The next challenge will be posted on Sunday, March 29 to give you time to choose your books before the official start time of 12:00 a.m. April 1.

We said we were not going to do anything formal here, and we are not, but we decided to periodically throw out mini bingo cards/challenges for anyone who would like to participate. If it goes well and people are enjoying it, we will continue.

First up, running January 1 through March 31 --> COVID-19 bingo! With many countries still in lockdown and many of us wanting to make more time to read, we thought this would be fun! This is not like your typical bingo. There are no calls. Just work towards filling all your squares. We hope you share your reading with the community by either posting here or posting a link to your journal, however you are under no obligation to do so.

This mini-card focuses on genres.
