2021 BINGO CARD #1: January - March

We said we were not going to do anything formal here, and we are not, but we decided to periodically throw out mini bingo cards/challenges for anyone who would like to participate. If it goes well and people are enjoying it, we will continue.

First up, running January 1 through March 31 --> COVID-19 bingo! With many countries still in lockdown and many of us wanting to make more time to read, we thought this would be fun! This is not like your typical bingo. There are no calls. Just work towards filling all your squares. We hope you share your reading with the community by either posting here or posting a link to your journal, however you are under no obligation to do so.

This mini-card focuses on genres.

Diversity: Weekend Dad by Naseem Hrab
Mystery/Crime: The Salem Witch Trials: An Unsolved Mystery from History by Jane Yolen
Romance: Winter's Orbit by Everina Maxwell (very good, All the Tropes done well, space opera political intrigue fake gay marriage, you need to read it)
New Adult (2020-2021): Daughter of Black Lake by Cathy Marie Buchanan (decent enough historical fiction)
Horror/Paranormal/Ghost: Rules of Summer by Shaun Tan (great picture book)
Action/Adventure: The War Between the Vowels and the Consonants by Priscilla Turner (this is surprisingly good)
Sci Fi/Fantasy: Megan the Monday Fairy by Daisy Meadows
Non-Fiction: Joan Procter, Dragon Doctor: The Woman Who Loved Reptiles by Patricia Valdez (why am I only now learning about this woman after 20+ years in the zoo field?!)
Memoir: Finding F*ck Yes: A Memoir of Orgasms and Insulin by Clare Edgeman (what it says on the tin; decent read but didn't keep the ARC on my Kindle)
YA or Juvenile: My Hair is Beautiful by Shauntay Grant (great board book!)
Suspense/Thriller: When No One is Watching by Alyssa Cole (Get Out meets gentrification; definitely rec, although it goes off the rails at the end)
Fiction: Jack's Worry by Sam Zappardi

Quick question, which I should have asked when the bingo card was posted: How are you defining "New Adult"? Is it books published in 2020-2021 or the New Adult genre?
